Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous Oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is a form of sedation offered at Stony Plain Dental. This type of sedation is administered through a nose mask and is effective by simply breathing in the oxygen/nitrous oxide mix. This type of sedation is considered to be one of the safest sedation options. Patients are able to drive following their appointment as the effects of the sedation is reversed quickly with oxygen.
Oral Sedation
Oral sedation is a form of sedation that is administered in a pill form approximately 30 minutes prior to an appointment. Sedation options assist patients with anxiety by creating a more relaxing experience. Patients remain fully responsive under oral sedation but are not able to drive immediately following their appointment as the sedation does not immediately wear off.
